A collaboration built on growth and flexibility

For more than 25 years, Danske Fragtmænd has had a close and dynamic collaboration with Flying Tiger Copenhagen. Our journey together began in 1998, when we took over DSB Stykgods and started delivering goods to their first stores. At that time, the warehouse was small, and the goods were packed and labeled in limited facilities. Since then, Flying Tiger Copenhagen has grown into an international retail chain with stores all over the world – and we have kept pace as a reliable and flexible logistics partner in the Danish market.

Since then, Flying Tiger Copenhagen has grown into an international retail chain with stores all over the world – and we have kept pace as a stable and flexible logistics partner in the Danish market.

Over the years, Flying Tiger Copenhagen has experienced significant growth, which has led to continuous changes and expansions of their warehouses. New needs have arisen, and logistics have become more complex, but we have ensured a smooth transition every time. Our ability to adapt to their changes has been crucial in maintaining an efficient supply chain.

Flying Tiger Copenhagen’s stores often have limited storage space, and many are located in areas with delivery restrictions, such as pedestrian streets and shopping centers. Therefore, precision in deliveries is essential. Today, they rely heavily on DOT deliveries (Delivery On Time), where shipments are booked to arrive before a specific time. This allows the stores to get the goods in place on time without disrupting their daily operations.

– When the stores open their doors at 10:00, it doesn’t work if a pallet or an employee is still unpacking goods. Deliveries must be in place so that we are ready for customers from the very beginning. DOT deliveries make a big difference for us because they allow our staff to focus on customers instead of handling incoming goods during opening hours, says René Grønskov, Transport Manager at Flying Tiger Copenhagen.

For Flying Tiger Copenhagen, it is also crucial that the drivers delivering to the stores know the specific requirements and conditions of each destination. Over the years, many of Danske Fragtmænd’s drivers have built close relationships with the stores and their employees, which makes deliveries more efficient and creates a sense of trust for the recipients.

– It means a lot to us that we have the same drivers delivering to our stores. When the same person comes again and again, it creates confidence and trust among our staff, and we avoid misunderstandings. The drivers know exactly how the deliveries should be handled – especially in city centers with restrictions, explains René Grønskov.

Particularly during peak seasons, such as the run-up to Christmas, Flying Tiger Copenhagen places high demands on deliveries. The stores receive far more goods than usual, and timing becomes a critical factor. A delay can have major consequences for store operations.

– If a delivery is delayed by just one hour, it can mean that our staff doesn’t manage to get the goods in place before the store opens. In our busiest periods, the stores receive twice as many pallets as usual, and here it is a great advantage that Danske Fragtmænd knows our needs and plans the routes accordingly, says René Grønskov.

The collaboration has also developed in line with an increasing focus on sustainability. Flying Tiger Copenhagen is actively working to minimize their environmental footprint, and transport naturally plays a key role in this.

– We know that Danske Fragtmænd is already focusing on electrifying its vehicle fleet, and that is a development we are following closely. For us, it is important to minimize our climate footprint, and here green deliveries play an important role, says René Grønskov in conclusion.

With a long history behind us and a future filled with new challenges and opportunities, we continue our collaboration with Flying Tiger Copenhagen to create efficient and flexible logistics solutions that support their growth and business strategy
