Again this year, Danske Fragtmænd is co-organiser of the largest road safety campaign in Denmark, Road Safety at Eye Level, which, in April and May, will visit 180 primary schools, principally in the Greater Copenhagen area and in Northern, Eastern and Southern Jutland.

The campaign was kicked off today at the primary school Vibenshus Skole on Østerbro in Copenhagen, where as many as 250 pupils from the third to fifth grades received training in road safety. The purpose of the campaign is to avoid accidents, and with special focus on right-turn accidents. The critical zones of the truck are therefore illustrated visually, to inform the children and make them aware of the drivers’ limited view of the road.

Here, the children are taught how to act when they encounter a truck in traffic and they learn about the risks involved in being near a truck. The children also learn about the importance of making themselves visible in traffic and therefore receive both high visibility vests and reflectors.

A number of large players in the transport industry, among other sectors, are behind the campaign. In addition to Danske Fragtmænd, these are DTL, 3F, Volvo, Energiselskabet OK, Codan and Børneulykkesfonden (the Danish Children Accident Prevention Foundation).
