A good partnership is crucial for Hilti's choice of carrier

Difficult delivery conditions on construction sites and rapid tool repair service require a flexible and cooperative carrier.

As the name Danske Fragtmænd might suggest, the majority of our business is in Denmark. But most people probably don't know that Danske Fragtmænd also has customers and activities in Sweden. Hilti is one of those customers, and we transport three to four loads daily to and from their warehouse in Malmö via our terminal in Taastrup. We transport the goods through our nationwide route network to Hilti's stores and customers in Denmark. The goods are delivered in Hilti's stores before 07:00 AM and to customers no later than the day after the order is placed.

Sanna Lönqvist is Hilti's Transport Manager for Sweden and Denmark

Hilti has been a customer with Danske Fragtmænd for almost ten years and has just extended the agreement for another two years. If you ask Hilti's Transport Manager in Sweden and Denmark, Sanna Lönqvist, there is no doubt that the collaboration with Danske Fragtmænd is the right choice.

- We are very pleased with our collaboration with Danske Fragtmænd. They handle everything from parcels, pallets, and long goods to dangerous goods. They deliver day to day, and they know our business and our products very well. Usually, it is the same driver who collects the goods from our warehouse in Malmö several times. This means he is used to working with our warehouse staff and knows our loading conditions, which is very important to us.

Recently, Danske Fragtmænd also became responsible for Hilti's repair shipments to Sweden. A very important part of Hilti's service concept is the quick repair of their tools. This means that if a craftsman experiences a breakdown of his tool on the construction site, it must be returned within three days. Danske Fragtmænd must therefore pick up the tool within 24 hours and transport it to Sweden, Hilti then repairs it and sends it back to the craftsman. In fact, Hilti had initially planned to use another carrier for the job, but shortly before go live, that carrier decided to drop out.

- We needed to find another solution quickly, so we didn't end up with an entire workshop without machines to repair. We contacted Danske Fragtmænd and asked for help. Before the end of the week, Danske Fragtmænd had established a completely new process and were ready to pick up customers' repairs around Denmark and deliver them early in the morning in Sweden. The solution was even paperless, which is not usually the norm in the transportation industry. Danske Fragtmænd understood how critical the solution was to our business and went all in to solve the task. It shows how strong a partnership we have says Sanna Lönqvist.

Many of Hilti's shipments are made to construction sites for various construction companies, and often the delivery conditions are difficult due to, for example poor access. Hilti's shipments are also costly and therefore cannot simply be handed over to a random craftsman on the construction site. The driver must ensure that the right company signs for the shipment. A task that Sanna Lönqvist believes Danske Fragtmænd does a great job solving.

- Danske Fragtmænd does it better than what should be theoretically possible. And if there is a problem with a delivery address, we simply enter into dialog with Danske Fragtmænd, and they solve it.

Although price, delivery speed, and an extensive route network are important parameters for Hilti when choosing a carrier, the partnership and the willingness to constantly improve are essential.

- For Hilti, price, network, and speed are crucial, but values and partnership also matter. We always want to do things 'a bit better', and fortunately, so does Danske Fragtmænd. We have just launched our new strategy, which we will soon present to Danske Fragtmænd. To achieve our goals, it is crucial that Danske Fragtmænd, as one of our most important suppliers, is aware of and supports our strategy, Sanna Lönqvist concludes.
