Danske Fragtmænd taught 300 children about traffic on Father’s Day

6 June 2019

On the Danish Father’s Day, the 5th of June, Danske Fragtmænd and Traffic Safety at Eye Level went to Elsinore (Helsingør) to teach traffic safety. The traffic safety campaign was here a part of a Father’s Day event at the Danish Museum of Science & Technology, which has a great range of offers for those who love technology and machines.

In addition to veteran cars, robots, and segways, the day also included traffic safety education. The encounter with large trucks was especially in focus. During the day, more than 300 children with parents or grandparents came by the large trucks and had a talk about traffic safety, visited the driver’s cab, and did a short quiz on what they had learnt. They all received a gift bag with reflective straps, safety vests, and candy afterwards, before all the participants also drew lots for different prizes.

This year’s season of Traffic Safety at Eye Level started the 9th of April at Åvangsskolen in Rønne, where 200 primary school students helped jump-start the campaign. Since then, the campaign has been hard at work visiting Danish primary schools, which means that before the first month had passed, almost 3,000 children had been taught traffic safety and given safety vests. The next event is scheduled for the 21st of June, where the campaign will visit Hjørring Dyrskue.

Traffic Safety at Eye Level is running for the 17th year in a row and has since its beginning taught more than 110,000 children. The partners of the campaign are Danske Fragtmænd, DTL Danske Vognmænd, the energy company OK, Volvo Trucks Danmark A/S, Codan, and Børneulykkesfonden, all of whom finance and contribute to the campaign.
